- RULES OF PLAY
- All competition is to be governed by Fair Flite, USGA, and local course rules.
- Winter Rules: To be decided by the Tournament Chairperson or the management of the
golf course.
- Ball may be moved no more than 6”, no closer to the hole, anywhere from tee to green,
excluding hazards.
- Ball may be lifted and cleaned, making sure to mark the ball before lifting.
- “Special” Water-hole Ruling:
- After 3 balls have gone into the water, the player may carry her ball across the water,
counting this carry over as the 7th stroke plus any strokes prior to hitting into the water,
and then hit her 8th shot.
- In an effort to speed up play and save golf balls, after the first ball has gone into the
water, the player may elect to carry her ball across the water and hit her 8th shot.
- Temporary Greens: Each player can try for a one putt. If she misses, she may pick up for
an automatic two putts.
- Slow Play:
- If there is a hole open in front, players must let the foursome behind go through or each
member of the slow group will be penalized two strokes.
- If you get behind, the first two who have finished putting should move on to tee off at the
next hole.
- If you decide not to finish a hole, you may pick up and put down your maximum score
for the hole as an “X” score (par plus 2 plus strokes (pops). An “X” score means you
are not eligible for any tournament awards. (This is to speed up play).
- TOURNAMENTS:

- In the event of a cancelled play day due to rain or some other unforeseeable event, those
listed on the foursome pairing sheet will be given credit for that round as one of the
required minimum games for the year.
Members will be notified by email of a cancellation from the Tournament Chairperson.
- If tournament play has begun but the tournament is called before all groups finish at least
nine holes, it will be deemed non-tournament, and Optional Pot monies will be refunded. If
nine or more holes have been completed then the Optional Pots will be paid as follows:
unplayed CP’s will be combined with completed CP’s, low back will be raffled.
- SCORING:
- Two scorecards signed by all players must be turned in with complete names on both
cards. Any discrepancies in scores must be settled within the foursome and prior to
attesting and handing in scorecards. Failure to do so will result in disqualification of
the person(s) whose golf score is incorrect on a hole-by-hole basis.
- No alteration can be made on a scorecard once it is turned into the Tournament
Chairperson.
- In the event of a tie score, the winner shall be determined by:
- The back-nine method: last nine holes, last six holes, last three holes, and last hole.
- If a tie still remains, the handicap holes method will be used.
- The Fair Flite Handicap Chairperson will post all tournament scores on a hole-by-hole
basis.
- Adjusting your score is only for handicap purposes. You do not adjust your score for
tournament competition.
- Members are responsible for posting their scores for all other courses played using the
World Handicap System (WHS).
- Any discrepancies in scores must be settled within the foursome before teeing off to the
next hole and prior to attesting and turning in scorecards. If a decision cannot be made,
the player in question should play out two balls and get a decision from the course pro or
the Rules Chairperson after the round. Circle the hole in question on your scorecard. The
Club takes pride in promoting fair play so that all players may become better informed.
